Why Choose Sofa Icon?
UK Manufacturing
All our products are manufactured in the UK, supporting reduced transport emissions, shorter supply chains, and a lower environmental footprint.
Product Quality & Longevity
Our custom-made upholstered products (including sofas, armchairs and footstools) carry a 10-year guarantee against faulty workmanship and/or materials (with the exception of fillings and coverings). By prioritising durability and repairability, we help extend product lifespans and reduce waste.
No Minimum Order Quantity for Top-Ups
We do not enforce minimum order quantities on top-up orders, helping to avoid unnecessary overproduction—an important principle in waste reduction.
Pricing Structure
Price holds depend on several variables and can be discussed in more detail when appropriate.
Delivery Information
Delivery costs can be estimated at quotation stage, provided we know whether the order is being delivered to a single location or multiple drops. Transparent logistics planning helps us minimise unnecessary transport emissions.
Prototypes / Samples
Prototypes and samples are chargeable, but minor subsequent changes are made free of charge. Major revisions may incur a fee. If the sample is approved and followed by an order of more than 20 pieces, the prototype cost will be credited. This process helps minimise material waste while ensuring precision in production.
Lead Times
High-volume orders require 12–18 weeks; low-volume orders require approximately 8 weeks. Lead times begin upon receipt of a purchase order or COM fabric. This structured scheduling ensures efficient, low-waste production workflows.
Fabric & Material Sourcing
We work with all major UK fabric suppliers, with a preference for Warwick Fabrics, and also have access to EU mills for larger-scale projects. We prioritise suppliers who demonstrate strong environmental practices, material traceability and responsible production.
Commitment to Sustainable Materials
Sustainability is central to our operations, and we are actively developing our environmental focus.
- We prioritise UK-based and local suppliers to reduce carbon emissions and support circular supply chains.
- Timber for our frames is sourced from responsibly managed forests.
- We offer a range of recycled fabrics and use certified feather and down for cushions.
- As our sofas are handmade to order, we eliminate unnecessary waste by producing only what is needed.
- Our roadmap includes ensuring 100% responsibly sourced materials by 2028
- We maintain strong traceability across our supply chain, particularly with leather, ensuring ethical and environmentally responsible sourcing.
- We are also currently working towards B Corp certification, reinforcing our commitment to the highest standards of environmental performance, social responsibility, and transparent governance across our business.
Sustainable Workshop Practices
Beyond the materials themselves, we are actively transforming our workshop to reduce its environmental impact.
- Recent installation of biomass heating has already reduced our fossil fuel consumption by 40%.
- We plan to install electric vehicle charging points on-site and are moving towards using an electric delivery van by 2028. These steps form part of our long-term commitment to operating with lower carbon emissions and greater resource efficiency.
